Off Topic: Spam, It’s not just for breakfast anymore!

When I first started this blog I thought it would be on a wide range of topics.  I never intended it to focus in on the book excerpts and politics, it just sort of happened that way.  However today I am adding a category called Off Topic.  Hopefully this will motivate me to branch out a little bit and complain about everything, and not limit myself to just two topics.

So the first Off Topic is about spam.  Not the wonderful canned meat we all know and love.  Although as a South Jersey kid we ate Scrapple, Spam’s illegitimate half cousin.  If you are that curious, read about it here: What the heck is Scrapple?  No, the spam I’m talking about is the stuff we get in our e-mail, phone, text, etc…  Well guess what, I have learned bloggers are not immune to spam.  When y’all see the comments below each post, there are half as many that you don’t see.  The spam filter weeds out suspected spam and puts them in a file I can read to either delete as spam or allow to be posted.

I normally just empty the folder every time I get spam, which is every time I publish a new post.  Most of it is just some dumb advertising nonsense, but lately there have been some gems so I saved them.  One day I noticed a writer I follow on Twitter actually published the spam she was getting and it was some funny stuff.  So stealing that idea from her, I provide for your reading pleasure some of the spam currently in the box.  I will post them verbatim and then add my comments below.  Enjoy.
